James Paquin

“Jack of all Trades”

James started his passion for artistic creation by making props and automating his Halloween display that was very well know in Edmonton, Alberta. This lead to building a large medieval set (made from foam, wood, and concrete) complete with castle for a local photography studio. This previous experience eventually led him to opening his first business, House Talk Ltd. where he installed voice and touch screen controlled home automation systems and home theaters.

When James moved to Victoria, British Columbia, while working as a power engineer, he revisited carving foam into artistic creations. That’s all it took and he was hooked. He opened Ultimate Foam Creations and is known for thinking “outside the box” by creating vehicle art creations. Various designs consisted of a 10 foot Shark truck, 9 foot Easter Island truck and a 10 foot plunger that was mounted on a truck for the Super Plumber. Ultimate Foam Creations is known for doing artistic creations for large companies that include escape rooms.

Out of high school he worked with his dad, Eugene, for eleven years at Lafarge Canada making concrete pipe, some precast, and specialized with wet cast. He is excited with this new business, Replica Rocks, as it will use his skill set and push his creativity to a whole new level. Be prepared as there will be some incredible projects to see in the near future.

Dave Hrycun

“The Detail Guy”

Dave is a detail artist that makes realistic art creations that are in many museums all over the world. He started Envision 3D Studio making marine replicas that he molded himself and airbrushed each piece with incredible detail. With a distinct talent for art and an avid interest in wildlife, Dave took up the art of taxidermy at the age of 14. A naturalist at heart, Dave studied Wildlife and Fisheries Technology. Through a variety of nature-related jobs he became familiar with various aspects of his local Canadian flora and fauna and later was also able to travel the world.

Eventually moving to Victoria, British Columbia, Dave began Fisherman’s Tale Re-Creations in 1993 which specialized in fiberglass fish replicas. Boldly experimenting with various molding and painting techniques he was soon recognized as North America’s premier aquatic reproduction specialist. His intuitive ability to develop highly realistic models soon caught the attention of museums, interpretive, and cultural centers across the continent and world.

Over the years, Dave accrued new design skills and in 2010, he combined them with his previous techniques to head up his new company, Envision 3D Studio Inc. Dave’s models are now being used as educational tools and displays worldwide.
